Our Mission

The Rhode Island Athletic Trainers’ Association (RIATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers who support the athletic training profession in the state of Rhode Island. The mission of the Rhode Island Athletic Trainers’ Association is to enhance the quality of health care provided by certified athletic trainers and to advance the athletic training profession. This association provides several opportunities in which an athletic trainer can gain professional development through continuing education opportunities. We help organize conferences in which scientific and medically based evidence in the field of sports medicine can be presented.  This is controlled by separate entity – the Board of Certification. The RIATA also attempts to maintain a positive network amongst this profession in the small state, by sponsoring causal social events. The RIATA provides means for student athletic trainers to become involved in leadership roles.

RIATA 25th Anniversary Celebration!

On July 26, we hosted a 25th anniversary party. Two of the original five founding members were in attendance. We are so fortunate to have these member came together in 1992 to form our organization. We truly have come very far from then and we plan to go even further in the next 25 years!

It was a great time to be a Rhody! Cheers!
